INGREDIENTS
• 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
• 1 tsp sugar
• 1 cup warm water
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/4 cup olive oil
• 1 cup diced ham
• 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
• cherry tomato
• 1/4 cup chopped red onion
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• basil leaves
Instructions:
• In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture is frothy.
• In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the dough comes together.
• Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
• Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
• Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
• Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions.
• Roll out each portion into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
• Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
• Sprinkle half of the ham, mozzarella cheese, bell peppers, red onion, and black olives over each oval, leaving a border around the edges.
• Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a boat-like shape.
• Beat the egg and brush it over the edges of the pide for a golden finish.
• Sprinkle dried oregano over the top of each pide.
• Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
• Let the pide cool slightly before slicing and serving.
